The controller alone, or jointly with others, determines the purposes and means of processing personal data.
This is a pre-launch website used to validate demand for the product “PIES8.JSON-LD”. We process personal data only as far as necessary to operate the site and to add you to our waitlist. Personal data is any information that can be used to identify you.
We process your data under Art. 6 (1) GDPR, in particular: your consent (lit. a, e.g. analytics cookies); the performance of pre-contractual steps taken at your request (lit. b, e.g. reserving a waitlist spot); and our legitimate interests (lit. f, e.g. secure and stable operation of the website).
You have the following rights at any time:
To exercise any of these, an informal email to the address above is sufficient. The competent supervisory authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW).
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc. (512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When you visit the site, Netlify processes technical data on our behalf (e.g. IP address, date/time, the file requested) that is required to deliver the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and efficient presentation (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR). A data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with Netlify. Netlify, Inc. is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
The hosting provider automatically collects and stores information that your browser transmits in server log files: browser type and version, operating system, referrer URL, host name of the accessing device, time of the server request and IP address. This data is not merged with other data sources. Collection is based on Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR for the technically error-free presentation and optimisation of the website.
Strictly necessary storage (e.g. remembering your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage) is used without consent on the basis of § 25 (2) TDDDG. Non-essential services — in particular reach measurement with Google Analytics — are only activated after you actively consent via our cookie banner.
We use Google Consent Mode v2. By default, analytics_storage is set to “denied”; Google Analytics is only loaded/set once you click “Accept”. If you click “Decline”, no analytics cookies are set. Your choice is stored in your browser’s local storage so the banner does not reappear; you can reset it at any time by clearing your browser data. The legal basis for consent-based cookies is Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR together with § 25 (1) TDDDG.
After your consent, we use Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland; “Google”). Google Analytics lets us analyse user behaviour (e.g. which sections are viewed, button clicks, opening the form) to improve our offering.
We measure a small number of anonymous progress events, including page_view, scroll_selftest, cta_click, modal_open, lead_qualified and email_lead. Parameters such as the selected revenue band and whether a PIES feed exists may be transmitted. No plain-text email addresses are sent to Google.
IP anonymisation is enabled (anonymize_ip), so your IP address is truncated by Google within the EU/EEA. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR). Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; EU Standard Contractual Clauses apply in addition. You can withdraw your consent at any time via the cookie banner or by clearing your browser data. More information: Google Privacy Policy.
Using the “Reserve founder pricing” form, you can sign up for the waitlist. We receive the email address you provide and, optionally, your store URL, annual GMV (revenue band) and whether you have a PIES feed. We use this data solely to contact you when access becomes available and to prioritise suitable stores.
Form delivery is handled by the service provider Formspree, Inc. (2810 N Church St #74746, Wilmington, DE 19802-4447, USA), which processes the data on our behalf. The legal bases are the performance of pre-contractual steps at your request (Art. 6 (1) lit. b GDPR) and our legitimate interest in efficient handling (Art. 6 (1) lit. f GDPR); where required, your consent (Art. 6 (1) lit. a GDPR). The transfer to the USA is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (Art. 46 (2) lit. c GDPR). See the Formspree Privacy Policy.
When using the services above, personal data may be transferred to the USA. For Google and Netlify, the transfer relies on the EU Commission’s adequacy decision for the EU–US Data Privacy Framework; for Formspree (and as a supplement for the other services) on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. Despite these safeguards, a residual risk that US authorities may access data cannot be ruled out.
We store personal data only as long as necessary for the respective purposes. Waitlist requests are kept until the pre-launch validation is complete or until you withdraw, and are then deleted. Server log files are deleted automatically after a short period. Google Analytics data is subject to the retention period configured in GA4.
We will update this privacy policy whenever the legal situation or our processing changes — for example at product launch. The version published here applies.
